Antique French Miniature Folding Screen – Empire, Restoration & 1830 – c. 1890–1920

Beautiful antique French three-panel miniature folding screen / table screen (paravent), probably dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, circa 1890–1920.

A very charming and unusual decorative piece featuring three historical engraved scenes, each representing an important period in French history:

The scenes are beautifully framed with neoclassical decorative motifs and are protected behind glass. The three wooden panels are joined with original-style metal hinges and fold together like a traditional French paravent.

The reverse is covered with woven patterned fabric, which has developed a lovely aged patina over time.

The piece shows genuine signs of age and use, including light discoloration/fading to the historical prints and age-related wear to the wooden frames, finish and fabric. These imperfections are part of its antique character and charm.

A particularly decorative and unusual object for collectors of French antiques, historical prints, miniature furniture, paravents or French decorative arts.
