A highly decorative early 20th-century hand-carved wooden serving tray, distinguished by its elegant naturalistic composition of a long-tailed bird surrounded by delicate flowering branches and stylised foliage.The tray features a warm honey-brown wooden surface with an extensively hand-carved central panel. At the heart of the composition is a beautifully rendered long-tailed bird, positioned among graceful botanical branches with leaves and flowers. The surrounding border is equally decorative, featuring a continuous carved foliate pattern that frames the central scene and gives the tray a strong sense of symmetry and depth.The carving is particularly appealing for the variation and character of the hand-worked details. Darker tones within the incised lines and relief decoration accentuate the botanical forms and the long, flowing feathers of the bird, creating a striking contrast against the warm natural tone of the wood.Two ornate metal carrying handles are fitted to the sides. Their decorative form complements the carved wooden construction and adds an elegant architectural quality to the piece.The overall design and craftsmanship are characteristic of the decorative arts of the late 19th and early 20th century.
