--- Over het boek (foto 1): Designing Campus Networks ---

This practical, thoroughly illustrated text looks at network design criteria both individually and integrated into a local area network. Contemporary challenges facing network designers are covered, including traffic patterns, types, and prioritization; security, redundancy, and scalability. Then, network blueprints which incorporate all these challenges, in varying degrees, are presented. Network designers can scale and adjust these blueprints to accommodate the unique mix of design criteria for their particular networks.

Waste of Money [2000-02-24]

The first few chapters glossed over things and barely scratch the surface. After finding many technical errors, I lost faith in this book, I am not going to finish reading the rest of it. I am disappointed at Cisco Press. Next time I will make sure I check the reader reviews first before I got suckered into it. Big waste of money!

What wus cisco smoke'n [2002-02-18]

I applaud the women to try. However, I am truely not knowing what cisco was smoke'n to publish this book. It is better to have no documentation than wrong documentation. This book is filled with wrong'isms. I made two points when hitting the round file with this one.

Technically Inaccurate and Misleading [2000-02-11]

It's hard to believe this book went to print with Cisco's brand name on it.

As the title suggests, there are designs you must consider if your problem looks like a campus.

Like all other Cisco suggested designs, there is an access, distribution and core layer and this just distributes that methodology across a larger backdrop.

Back then, it was much more about Layer2 type of cores, but these days with MPLS, Layer3 is the way to go. For that reason, I think this book is more of a historical look at how campus networks were built. You may inherit one and need to know what they were thinking.

ARP / RARP Error, Chap.3... Not Chap.2. Also ... [1998-07-14]

I think this book is well written. Working for a company that partners with Cisco, I was informed of a Recall / Reprinting of this book. We were lucky enough to have this book offered to us as a free item. They (Cisco Press) are replacing the book to all of their partners that have the book with the error. Except for the ARP / RARP error in Chapter 3, it think this book is well written to the point of a novice being able to understand the concepts in this book.
