Before continuing reading, ask yourself:
"What is a RETRO-COMPUTING without Software"?

Being an Apple enthusiast, I have collected RARE and VALUABLE hardware and software for my co-sentimental Apple companions.

The color INDIGO stands for "Powerful and Dignified", "Integrity" and deep "Sincerity". The color meaning of indigo reflects great "Devotion", "Wisdom" and "Justice" along with "Fairness and Impartiality". It is a defender of people's rights to the end.
– Beyond the BLUE horizon …

The true Macintosh Apple enthusiast can supplement his collection with a legendary collector's item: the "iMac G3 INDIGO" – including the original "Apple Pro Keyboard" & "Apple Pro Mouse (M5769)". The TWO added "Firewire ports" (of the 400 MHz motherboard) make this computer a perfect bridge between Vintage and Modern hardware (FYI: all prior 400 MHz iMacs lack "Firewire ports").

The Apple iMac G3/400 Edition was sold "23 years ago" (Early 2001 *), together with the other rare color "Snow". So you are bidding on a TIME machine.

FYI
– DV stands for "Digital Video" (including RGB video out). The DV model also has a "slot loading optical drive", as well as the dual "FIREWIRE 400 ports" (= indispensable for use with modern equipment). All models prior 400 MHz iMacs G3 don't have firewire! Steve Jobs presented the DV series on the "Apple Special Event 1999".

Unlike previous iMac models, the iMac "Slot Loading" series is convection cooled for quieter operation and lacks the internal metal housing for a more translucent appearance.

The first iMac model is widely known as "a milestone". It marks "Steve Jobs" return to Apple and the rescue of "Apple" as a company. "Jonathan Ive" is credited with the design. With the iMac, Apple returned to Jobs’ vision of an "all-in-one" computer, with all of the guts in the same case as the display. In a world of messy PCs, the iMac stood out as a simple, elegant computing solution. While most of the computers at the time were beige boxes — the iMac G3 was packed into a "curvy (egg-shaped)", "translucent colorful", "retro futuristic" all-in-one case design, with a 15-inch "crystal clear" CRT display.

WHY BID / BUY?
As mentioned before. This working iMac comes with "tons of pre-installed software*", ready to use and to give you a glimp of the past!

– Adobe Photoshop 7;
– Adobe Illustrator 10;
– Adobe Pagemaker 7;
– Microsoft Office 2001.

This is an excellent opportunity for both the "Apple Fan" and the "Graphic Designer / student". In addition to being a "today" still perfectly usable "Desktop Publishing (DTP)" Computer, this "iMac" is also a true collector's item, which can be used as a design object. It gives you the best of both worlds!

The standard RAM of "128 MB" got a real BOOST (on this device) to "256 MB". This is to speed up "rendering" within the graphic ADOBE applications. The screen is COLOR-CALIBRATED * – Adobe RGB 1998 – by myself (I am a professional "Graphic Designer/ Teacher" for 30 years now). Color-Calibration* is a must for every Graphic Designer / Typographer / DTP'er – and for students at "Graphic courses".

>> Disclaimer:
The computer only includes software* that is classified as "abandonware" (= from the Public Domain, distributed over the internet and available freely, easily and readily). The software is supplied "free of charge" as a free service (for the retro-computing fan).

A BRIEF HISTORY LESSON
Designed by "Jonathan Ive" – also responsible for the iPod – this computer became a true icon.

After the return of "Steve Jobs" to "Apple", the colorful, distinctive and revolutionary design – revolutionized the history of the computer (it became the crown of the tech industry). The leading "MOMA museum New York" has the legendary iMac G3 in its collection for a reason. If you're making an investment … this is a good one!

The highly-desirable translucent "Graphite iMac" was announced by "Steve Jobs" at the "MacWorld Expo" in San Francisco. The iMac DV was a major jump forward in Apple's consumer strategy. The iMac DV was convection cooled, and as a result needed no internal fan, making it the quietest mac since the "Macintosh 512k". It also lacks the internal metal housing for a more TRANSLUCENT appearance.

The SE (Special Edition) model is housed in a more conservative "graphite" colored case –rather than five "fruit colors". It also has a slot loading DVD-ROM drive as well as dual Firewire "400" ports (indispensable if you want to use modern equipment!).

It also came with a sound system designed by "Harmon-Kardon" which really stood as a stand-out feature of the device. Bytheway: the speakers still sound as before!

MAC OS 9: SOME LOVE FOR THE CLASSICS !
Long before the current "macOS Big Sur" or even before any of the OS X systems, there was Mac OS 9. While not as aesthetically pleasing compared to current day operating systems, Mac OS 9 was sleek, super responsive and a joy to use. In fact. It still is!

This iMac comes with a clean install of "System 9.2.2".
Thus: "plug-and-play"!

IMPORTANT NOTES
– the computer works as it should (extensively tested!). There is only one downside: the CD player ejects difficult, but this is a wellknown problem with all slot-loading G3 and G4 CD players (as an alternative I carefully use tweezers on the rare occasions that I still use a CD) – You can also plug-in an external USB CD player;

– there are "normal signs of use" (which are to be expected with a device of this age). I would say this iMac is in "good to mint" condition. As to be expected, "the items" shows signs of "wear and tear", such as scratches and scuffs (but no discoloration or cracks).
