Description
Sweathog was a short-lived Southern rock/blues rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area that became famous during the early 1970s. Formed in 1967, the original members consisted of Lenny Lee Goldsmith (vocals, keyboards), David L. Johnson (vocals, bass), Robert Morris "B.J." Jones (vocals, guitars), and drummer Barry "Frosty" Smith (March 20, 1946 - April 12, 2017). Sweathog became a top opening act for such bands as Black Sabbath, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, The J. Geils Band, Grand Funk Railroad, and Edgar Winter's White Trash.
Sweathog is best known for its one chart hit, the hard-driving "Hallelujah," which made the Pop/Rock Top 40. The band released two albums, "Sweathog" (1971) and "Hallelujah" (1972), before calling it quits by the mid 1970s.
