Classic 1996 Marin Pine Mountain MTB

Legendary 1996 Marin Pine Mountain MTB . Looks fantastic and rides beautifully, one of the smoothest and fun most bikes I've ever ridden. I took her on a number of fast paced group gravel rides and she was more than a match for modern steeds and much more original and cool. Ideal for off-road forest paths, gravel riding and even just having fun around town.
A bike that is probably unique in all of Belgium. I just don't have the time to ride her and sadly she has to go.

This was the last year that Marin sold these in steel before moving to aluminium (none of those models survived 30 years) and the ride feel was never the same after the change. Comparatively few were imported to the EU, the few that were are highly regarded. The frameset, wheels and suspenstion fork were all brought over from the UK. Many of the parts are near to impossible to find now including the super-light weight wheelset and suspension fork.

Rebuilt from the bare frame up a few years ago, it comes with an xtr crankset, xtr v-brakes (the best v-brakes ever made), xtr wheelset, xtr 9-speed shifters and cassette all fitted with xtr low friction cables!

In total weighs less than 10 kg, much less than the contemporary Marin Team Machine (top of the line model) and that didn't even have front suspension!

This is mostly due to the front suspension fork, the 1999 Marzocchi Bomber Superfly, one of the last and best v-brake air suspension fork (super light weight even by modern standards), which still works great, very plush. Needs inflating every couple of rides so I will include a digital fork pump and a replacement spare set of Enduro seals which I never round to fitting.

1996 Pine Mountain CR-MO Tange steel frame, marin seat-post, marin light seat clamp, marin light bottle cage, marin light saddle (minor tear-treated)

Additionally comes with but not fitted :
Original fork, original marin light handle bars, original marin light long stem (red of course), original Dia-Tech headset, set of Schwalbe mountain bike tyres (used only once) and a red GT saddle bag with spare Schwalbe inner tube.

Open to offers but keep it sensible. I've already been offered €200 for the brake set and €250 for the Bombers, both of which are very rare.

I would prefer to sell the complete bike with additional original parts to someone who will appreciate them, but if no one makes a decent offer I will eventually split and sell parts individually.

Size: 19 inches (48 cm) bottom bracket to the top of seat-tube, note; this is not the top tube length but was how this bike was sold originally as a 19'.

Not included, GPS and Time system pedals.
