"Egyptian mythology casts Thoth as a deity covering many different areas of life. The god of the Moon, he is also known as the god of sacred texts, math, science, magic, and messengers. Among his primary roles is that of the master of knowledge who is responsible for recording the information of the gods. As a scribe, he fulfills an important role in people passing to the afterlife.
Obverse
The obverse side of the 2 oz Silver Thoth Round features the deity in his human form with the head of an ibis. Thoth sits on a throne with the tools he needs to be a scribe. This field includes several hieroglyphs in the cartouches that reflect Thoth in the Egyptian written record.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 2 oz Silver Thoth Rounds, you will find the animal form of Thoth seated on a small boat. This baboon is the other primary symbol for Thoth and the animal is set on a boat in front of a large pyramid. Along the bottom, you will find the inscriptions of 2 OZ, 999, and AG.
History
In Egyptian mythology, you will often find scales associated with Thoth. That is because he is responsible for recording a persons value after death. He would weigh their heart on a scale. If the heart was the right weight, that person could pass on to the afterlife. If not, well the results werent as good."
