Friedman IR-X is a compact, high-voltage, dual-channel tube preamp pedal that combines genuine tube tone with modern features like impulse response (IR) cabinet simulation and MIDI control, designed for direct recording and live use. It essentially offers a complete Friedman rig in a pedalboard-friendly format. 

Key Features

Real Tube Preamp: The core of the unit features two high-voltage 12AX7 preamp tubes running at approximately 250 volts, providing authentic tube tone, response, and harmonic richness.

Dual Channels: It offers two independent channels:

Channel 1 (Plexi-style): Covers tones from pristine clean to light crunch and edge-of-breakup. It includes a 3-way bright switch for further tone shaping.

Channel 2 (BE-style): Provides the classic "Brown Eye" high-gain overdrive, ideal for crunch and heavy metal sounds. It features a 2-way tight switch to adjust low-end response.

Integrated IR Loader: It has built-in DSP IR cabinet and power amp simulation, sending a studio-quality mic'd signal to a DAW or front-of-house. Users can select from 3 IRs per channel using a front panel switch, with 12 free Friedman IRs included in the editor software.

Boost Function: A boost is available on both channels, which can be configured as a volume or gain boost. The gain level of the boost is adjustable via small trim pots on the side panel.

Connectivity: The pedal includes a series effects loop (bypassable), a balanced TRS output, a headphone output, standard 5-pin MIDI in/out, and a USB-B port for software editing.

Editor Software: A dedicated editor software (powered by Synergy) for PC/Mac allows users to access additional controls (like Presence and Thump settings per channel), load custom IRs, and configure MIDI presets.
