The points of reference have shifted, and pictures that began as simple, direct and personal now begin to attract other meanings. We see an image of a grandmother on a day out with her grandchildren; a woman sprawled naked on a bed hiding her face from the camera; three smiling schoolgirls in matching dresses; a youth showing off his gun. All are photographs that might be found in a family album, but the world has changed so much since they originally presented themselves through the viewfinder - and we cannot help but see them differently.
