Basic Czech I, a modern English-based textbook, is the first volume in the Basic Czech series. It is methodologically based on a communicative and comparative approach. Its aim is to introduce students to the basics of Czech grammar through the fluent and systematic acquisition of vocabulary and conversational phrases. Grammar in close connection with vocabulary is only a means to achieve this goal. The intermediary language appears minimally and serves as concise explanatory notes, so that the textbook can also be used for self-study. Clear tables and a series of witty dialogues enable the user to quickly memorize the material discussed. Basic Czech I corresponds to level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Basic Czech II corresponds to level A2 (active) and B1 (passive).
