Amazing Spider-Girl Volume 2: Comes the Carnage!

In one possible future of the Marvel Universe, Peter Parker and wife Mary Jane have a daughter, May. Not surprisingly, May has inherited her father’s powers, and as this series opens, she’s tried to give up being Spider-Girl and lead a normal life. That never worked for her father, and it’s not working out too well for May either. In the first place, it’s hard to get around the whole “with great power comes great responsibility” thing. Perhaps more importantly, her father’s old enemies, and those people who, like her, have inherited the powers of another, don’t go away quietly.

In many respects, reading Spider-Girl is like reading a very old issue of Spider-Man, when Peter was in high school and just trying to balance his messed-up life. There’s also a nostalgic “whatever happened to…” feel, involving all of Peter’s old friends and family. Tom DeFalco, Ron Frenz, and Sal Buscema write, draw, and ink it.
