Aged in oak vats for up to six years before being bottledTASTING NOTESBright, exuberant aromas of blackberry and blueberry are pierced by a shaft of mint which gives the wine an incredible, scintillating freshness. The substantial mouthfeel carries ample black forest fruit and fleshy, black plum flavours punctuated by peppery tannins and fine acidity, all combining to underscore the wine’s fine structure and balance. The long aftertaste suggests tobacco and tea, wrapped in Dow’s trademark dry finish.SERVINGAn excellent dessert wine to enjoy on its own or with chocolate desserts or semi-cured/cured cheeses (Cheddar, Manchego and others). It will last for up to one month once open.HISTORYThe name of Dow’s has been closely linked with the finest ports from the Douro Valley for over two centuries.Since 1912 when Andrew James Symington became a partner in Dow’s, five generations of Symington winemakers have worked at Dow’s vineyards, creating superbly concentrated wines known for their distinctive drier finish.Over the last 100 years, the Symington family have focused on strengthening Dow's reputation as a Vintage Port producer. Their efforts were rewarded when the 2007 Vintage Port earned a perfect 100-point score from the Wine Spectator and the 2011 Vintage Port was awarded Wine of The Year - ranking No.1 in the Top 100 Wines list.More recently, the family relaunched Dow's Aged Tawny collection to widespread acclaim and built a new winery and an award-winning visitor centre at Quinta do Bomfim.PLEASE NOTE: This is a recurring auction.
