From the Villa Verdimonti you also have a quite good overview of the town of Gaiole, and if you are up early the first Sunday in October you may be lucky to see the departure of the vintage cycle race l'eroica! Turn around and you can see the famous castle Meleto with it's characteristic round towers. David's Chianti Classico from 2015 makes a good impact with it's flavours like mature red fruit, blueberry, black currant, anis, dark chocolate and red roses in the nose. The tannins are classic Chianti Classico, they don't pass unnoticed, still quite behaved! The wine spends about 30 months in oak barrels medium sized. Try also their Chianti Classico Riserva for some more complexity, rounded tannins and full body. Verdimonti makes a great rosè wines as well, great for any day.
