Jim Morrison Music By The Doors – An American Prayer- is een album van The Doors dat in 1978 werd uitgebracht, zeven jaar na het overlijden van hun leadzanger Jim Morrison. Het album bestaat uit opnamen van Morrison's gedichten die door de overgebleven bandleden op muzikale baslijnen werden voorgelezen. Het project werd geleid door de toetsenist van de band, Ray Manzarek, die Morrison's visie op gesproken-woordopnamen op muziek wilde realiseren.Het album bevat eerder ongepubliceerde gedichten van Morrison evenals enkele van zijn eerdere werken. De muziek loopt van bluesy rock tot ambient klanklandschappen, wat een unieke combinatie van gesproken woord en muziek oplevert.
