De Porsche 968 is in feite een doorontwikkelde 944 en was dan ook opvolger van dit model. Het is het de laatst geproduceerde sportauto van Porsche met de motor voorin en begint dan ook een gewild verzamelobject te worden. Dit exemplaar werd geleverd op 11 mei 1992, het eerste productiejaar van de 968, in Duitsland. Al in 2001 is de Porsche geïmporteerd naar Nederland waar hij in bezit is geweest van verschillende liefhebbers en verzamelaars. De auto is goed onderhouden, dit blijkt wel uit de uitvoerige onderhoudsdocumentatie die bij de auto aanwezig is. De laatste onderhoudsbeurt is uitgevoerd bij een kilometerstand van 244.882 KM waarbij een onderhoudsbeurt is uitgevoerd. De 968 bevindt zich in een fraaie originele staat: het lakwerk in de befaamde kleur 'Indisch Rot', ook wel 'Guards Red' en 17 inch '964 cup look' velgen. De auto is standaard al rijk uitgerust aan opties zoals een radio/cd-speler en elektrische ramen en spiegels maar dit exemplaar is ook nog eens voorzien van extra opties zoals getinte ramen en airconditioning. De auto verkeert in een mooie, roestvrije staat met een net zwart interieur. Een mooie kans dus om een eerlijke, originele en goed onderhouden 968 in handen te krijgen!


Algemene informatie over de Porsche 968
De Porsche 968 volgde in 1992 de 944 op en werd tot 1995 gebouwd. Het is de laatst gebouwde model uit de reeks Porsche's met de motor voorin, die begon met de 924, ongeveer 20 jaar eerder. Anders dan voorgaande modellen werd dit model niet gebouwd in de Audi-fabriek maar in Porsche's eigen fabriek in Zuffenhausen. De motor was de doorontwikkelde 4-cilinder motor, nu met maar liefst 3 liter inhoud waarmee het op nummer 4 stond met grootste 4-cilinder motor ooit gebouwd in een productie-auto. De motor met 240 pk is voorzien van VarioCam (variabele klepregeling). De prestatiecijfers zijn nog altijd uitstekend: een topsnelheid van 250 km/u en acceleratie van 0 naar 100 km/u in 6,5 seconden. De versnellingsbak was nieuw en voorzien van 6 versnellingen. Het design werd gemoderniseerd en heeft invloeden van de 993 generatie uit de 911-reeks. De klapkoplampen doen dan weer denken aan die van de 928. De 968 werd luxer uitgerust dan zijn voorgangers, waardoor de auto zich ook goed leent voor lange afstanden. Door de relatief korte productieperiode zijn met 12.776 exemplaren relatief weinig 968's geproduceerd: minder dan 10% ten opzichte van de 944. Ook omdat er sindsdien geen sportwagen meer door Porsche is gebouwd met de motor voorin is het model steeds gewilder onder liefhebbers en verzamelaars.

The Porsche 968 is in fact a further developed 944 and was therefore successor to this model. It is Porsche's last produced sports car with the engine at the front and is therefore starting to become a sought-after collector's item. This example was delivered on 11 May 1992, the 968's first year of production, in Germany. Back in 2001, the Porsche was imported to the Netherlands where it has been owned by various enthusiasts and collectors. The car has been well maintained, as evidenced by the extensive maintenance documentation present with the car. The last service was carried out at a mileage of 244,882 KM where a maintenance service was performed. The 968 is in beautiful original condition: the paintwork in the famous colour 'Indian Rot', aka 'Guards Red' and 17-inch '964 cup look' rims. As standard, the car is already richly equipped with options such as a radio/CD player and electric windows and mirrors but this example also comes with additional options such as tinted windows and air conditioning. The car is in a nice, rust-free condition with a neat black interior. So a great opportunity to get your hands on an honest, original and well-maintained 968!


General information about the Porsche 968
The Porsche 968 succeeded the 944 in 1992 and was built until 1995. It is the last model built in the series of Porsche's with the engine at the front, which started with the 924, about 20 years earlier. Unlike previous models, this model was not built at the Audi plant but at Porsche's own factory in Zuffenhausen. The engine was the redeveloped 4-cylinder engine, now with a whopping 3 litres of capacity that put it at number 4 with largest 4-cylinder engine ever built in a production car. The 240-hp engine featured VarioCam (variable valve control). Performance figures are still excellent: a top speed of 250 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. The gearbox was new and featured 6 gears. The design was modernised and has influences from the 993 generation of the 911 series. In turn, the folding headlights are reminiscent of those of the 928. The 968 was more luxuriously equipped than its predecessors, making the car well suited for long distances. Due to the relatively short production period, relatively few 968s were produced with 12,776 units: less than 10% compared to the 944. Also because no sports car with the engine at the front has been built by Porsche since then, the model is increasingly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors.
