Honoré-Gabriel de Mirabeau / Comte de La Marck – Correspondance entre le Comte de Mirabeau et le Comte de La Marck pendant les années 1789, 1790 et 1791 – Paris, Librairie Ve Le Normant, 1851 – 3 volumes.Complete three-volume set of this important correspondence relating to the French Revolution, collected, arranged and published by Adolphe de Bacourt, former French ambassador at the Court of Sardinia.The work contains the correspondence between the celebrated French statesman and revolutionary figure Honoré-Gabriel Riqueti, Comte de Mirabeau (1749–1791) and Auguste Marie Raymond, Prince de La Marck (1753–1833) during the crucial revolutionary years 1789–1791.The correspondence is an important historical source for the political events surrounding the early French Revolution and Mirabeau's attempts to reconcile the monarchy with the revolutionary movement.An interesting note in the publication states that the original documents used for this edition were deposited after printing in the archives of the House of Arenberg in Brussels.Provenance:With an attractive 19th-century library label:“Bibliothèque du Château du Tremblay – 1856”and an additional old engraved/printed ex-libris.Three uniform 19th-century bindings in half leather with marbled boards, raised bands, gilt decoration and gilt-lettered leather spine labels. Marbled endpapers.The bindings show rubbing and wear, particularly to the leather spines and extremities, but remain attractive and form a handsome uniform set. The interiors are generally clean and well preserved for their age, with scattered foxing and age toning as visible in the photographs.A handsome complete set with interesting 19th-century provenance, concerning one of the central political figures of the French Revolution.T. 1 - 466pp. T. 2 - 534pp. T3 - 499pp.
